Statement of Wonderfulness
In Celebration of
Student Health Services
It is my pleasure and honor to present Sarah Kailin with a 2004 Student Affairs Service. Sarah was praised by colleagues who described her with such words as respected, thoughtful, courteous, approachable, knowledgeable and competent, and as having a common-sense attitude,.
As a registered nurse practitioner, Sarah is responsible for the General Medical Clinic and Gynecology patients. Additionally, she serves as the Risk Management Committee chairperson and has spearheaded a successful Charitable Fund Drives each year.
Several years ago, she lobbied and succeeded in reclassifying nurse practitioners to mid-level clinicians throughout the OUS system, to assist them in achieving the recognition they deserved. She deeply cares about contributions to charities that will bring help to the less fortunate. In Disaster Planning, Sarah has provided many hours of work and thought to prepare OSU and the community for a major emergency. Although this is an ongoing process, great progress has been made. She ran a drill at SHS to determine where the questions and problem areas are, and now leads a committee to work on these issues within SHS.
Sarah’s colleagues praise her as being honest, just and open. She is focused in her work and fair to all. She is an excellent teacher for staff as well as students. Sarah is well-liked by the students, has a very positive attitude towards life in general and always brings her positive attitude to the people she works with!
Sarah is purposeful in her teaching of students, ensuring their health in a positive, supportive and educational way, always being open and available as a resource person to other employees. One can always feel welcomed around Sarah -- she treats everyone with respect.
Sarah also practices what she preaches by being disciplined, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and having high standards and integrity. Once you are introduced to Sarah, it doesn’t take long to see that she is a very caring person, fun to be around, and has a great sense of humor.
When asked to describe Sarah in one word, I was told that one or even two words, could not adequately portray her essence, but these would surely be included: caring, dedicated, professional, honest, sincere, fair.
But most of all….. Sarah is loving and loved.
